September 26th, 2006 - LONDON UNITED JOINS FORCES WITH MONEYGRAM..

London United, newly promoted to the BBL (British Basketball League), has agreed terms with a new club sponsor MoneyGram. MoneyGram specializes in a cash-to cash ten minute (*Subject to receiving agent hours of operation and local regulations) international money transfer service with over 96,000 agent locations in over 170 countries and territories worldwide.

London United will proudly wear the name and logo on their uniforms this season and MoneyGram will be heavily involved with match day promotions.  

London United's Director of Basketball and Sponsorship, Jack Majewski, was very quick to highlight the importance of the deal by saying "We can not underestimate the importance of the sponsorship agreement with a company of MoneyGram's magnitude. There are a lot of synergies between both organisations and we would like to use our relationship to maximise our influence on areas which interest both parties. I'm delighted that our club will have the opportunity to work with the MoneyGram Marketing Team to promote the game of basketball and all other activities undertaken by the club.”

United have secured the service of former England International Sam Stiller as assistant coach to Tony Garbelotto and the two coaches are working very hard to secure both British and overseas players to the roster.

David Schiller General Manager explained “because of Tony’s commitments to the GB team it has slowed down our recruitment process as we obviously needed his final say so. It means that we are behind schedule although we are hoping to make some announcements very soon.”

United are due to play their first League game at Leicester Riders on Saturday 30th September and will not play at their new home at the SPACe centre in Hackney until Saturday 21st October against Sheffield Sharks.
