London United is proud to announce the signing of British International 6ft 10” Centre Chris Haslam on an initial short term contract. The United board are ecstatic to have signed a player of his pedigree having played last season in Italy's Legadue with Banca Nuova Trapani.
Chris has been in United’s sights for some time and will fill a gap that has been an obvious shortfall in the London line up.
United have been sited as a small team with only veteran Bryant Feggins able to play the inside spot, but with the addition of Haslam it brings a different dimension to Head coach Garbelotto’s team and will allow them to play an inside-outside game which was not possible previously.
Basketball Director Jack Majewski said “This is a hugely important signing for us. Firstly, we are getting another top quality
English player. Our last game against Leicester clearly showed that English players can be a cornerstone of our organisation, Philip Perre was simply sensational. Now we are getting a player who has had very successful career in top European leagues and is a starter for the Great Britain team. Secondly, Chris will help us immensely on the power forward and centre positions where we are particularly short-handed."
Dave Schiller, General Manager also agrees “with the fact that its another great British signing and we are following though our commitment to try and build a mainly British team.”
