News Update - September 2006

September 27th, 2006 - BRYANT FEGGINS AND MARLIN CAPERS SIGN FOR LONDON UNITED..

American duo, Marlin Capers and Bryant Feggins have joined London United for the 2006-07 season.

Capers, who played for Guildford Heat last season joins up with LU to take one of the import spots. Capers adds another scoring threat to the United roster and is a versatile player to have in the squad who can play inside and out with good low post presence.

Feggins, who will be known to Scottish Rocks fans, joins the club after brief spells in Spain and Greece. Feggins is a 6'6” small forward who bring veteran and BBL experience to the United roster, with his versatility to play the 3, 4 and 5 spots. As an American resident of Sweden (Bosman A status) he gives us options for the future and with his credentials we are sure will be a huge asset to the club.

Director of Basketball Jack Majewski said: "We have always maintained that signing English and European players is our priority. American players will fill in the spots where we are not so strong with EU players. We also always said that recruitment is all about quality instead of quantity and Tarick is surely a top quality player. We chased him for a while, but I'm sure that we have a player who can take us where we want to go. His experience with National team and from playing in Europe is impossible to overestimate"

General Manager Dave Schiller says “We are absolutely delighted to have signed players of this quality and it really stands us well to compete in the BBL in our first season. With a great coaching partnership of Tony Garbollotto and Sam Stiller we all believe a team ethos can win us through this season and are all very excited, its fair to say we are some two weeks behind our recruiting schedule due to Tony’s involvement with the British team although things are finally coming together now”.
