London United came from behind to committ the Chester Jets to their fourth consecutive defeat, and went top of the BBL Championship table in the process. The Jets stormed out into an early lead at the Northgate Arena and were 21-12 up by the end of the first quarter.
The home team stretched that lead to 36-22 midway through the second frame before United hit back with a 14-6 finish to the half to stay in touch at 42-36 going into the locker rooms.
In the third period the Jets pushed their lead out again, and held a 63-53 advantage with 2:30 on the clock. However, inspired by 8 points, including two triples, from Marlin Capers the visitors posted a 12-3 run to narrow the gap at 67-64.
It was tight all the way in the fourth once the game became tied at 71 with 7:50 remaining. The teams were still knotted at 84 with 2:31 to go at which point London took the lead for good. The Jets failed to score until there were 12 seconds left on the clock when Alto Virgil made one of two from the line and Jaz Cowan netted to give the home side a chance with 6 seconds left.
Tarrick Johnson scored four three-pointers on his way to 22 points for United. Yet it was Jazwyn Cowan and Maurice Hargrow who scored 23 each to lead the scoring for the Jets.
